Mel was introduced to Hatha Yoga during her search for an alternate form of exercise.  However, in September 2004 her passion for yoga ignited when she stepped into Moksha Yoga for her first hot yoga class.  Yoga provided her with a balance between body, mind, and spirit that she wasn’t able to get elsewhere.

In April 2006, Mel decided to deepen her commitment to yoga and completed the 500-hour Moksha Yoga Teacher Training program in Thailand.  She has since completed Level 1 and Level 2 Baron Baptiste Power Yoga Teacher Training.  She now welcomes students to her physically challenging classes where she encourages students to balance effort by finding ease in every posture.  In 2009, Melanie went on to study Pre-Natal Yoga training with Monica Voss at the Esther Myers Yoga Studio in Toronto.

Outside of the Moksha Studio, Mel shares her passion of yoga with her corporate colleagues offering wellness information sessions that focus on “Desk-Side Yoga” and yoga fundraising events for the United Way Campaign.

Being her own witness of personal transformation on and off the mat, Mel invites students to make that discovery for themselves.
